Paul David Gaschen is a second-year medical student and also president of the Raider Med Run Club from Lubbock. He received his Bachelor of Arts University Scholars degree at Baylor University and has an interest in orthopaedic surgery.

Service is a Joy

The Free Clinic is a student-run clinic by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine that has served underprivileged members of the Lubbock community. Estimates show more than 18 percent of the Lubbock population is uninsured and that 22.5 percent are below the national poverty line. Every Wednesday of the year, The Free Clinic opens its doors and provides free health services. This year the clinic celebrates 10 years.

Abigail Buckholz, is a fourth-year medical student from Carlsbad, New Mexico. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biological sciences: neuroscience, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, with minors in music and chemistry. She plans to compete a double residency in psychiatry and internal medicine or family medicine.

Kristin Kinsley, is a second-year medical student from the Woodlands, Texas. Before coming to medical school, she worked with Aviation Electronics in the U.S. Navy, studied to be a pastry chef and also worked as a scribe.

Free Clinic Offered for Women’s Health Day

On April 27th, the Women’s Health Day clinic will provide free medical services to uninsured women including well-woman exams, consultations with Texas Tech Physicians, breast exams, pelvic exams, Pap smears, mammogram sign-ups and referrals, pregnancy tests, prenatal referrals and HPV vaccinations.

Masking Up for a Great Cause

Medical students began the Lubbock City Lights tradition in 1997. Since then, more than $1 million has been raised and helped numerous local charities and organizations in the West Texas community.
